The Midwest Elite Hockey League (MWEHL) Girl's Division season is winding down and it was the Minnesota Thoroughbreds (19U) team that wrapped up the league regular season championship with recently concluded play.
The MWEHL's Thoroughbreds swept through the regular season with a 17-1-2 mark to easily secure first place in the competitive elite girl's division.
The league features teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Colorado and Washington, D.C.
It has some of the top girl's programs from the respective states and produces some of the best amateur players for numerous top level Division I and III schools throughout the country.
By securing the championship, the Thoroughbreds gained the top seed for the Feb. 13-15 league playoffs at Joe Louis Arena, home of the Detroit Red Wings.
